Fayette County RF Propagation and Municipal Backhaul Evaluation

Propagation and tower analysis for a West Virginia county, with backhaul evaluation for the municipal infrastructure that had to report over it.

The opening phase of a multi-year municipal water utility communications program across West Virginia and Ohio, subcontracted through EG Controls as the controls integrator. It began under Michael Young Technologies and carried into Young Tech Systems.

RF propagation and tower analysis for Fayette County, paired with an evaluation of the backhaul available to municipal infrastructure — what path existed, what it could actually carry, and where nothing existed at all.

West Virginia is terrain before it is anything else. A river valley does not give you the coverage a flat-earth model predicts, and the sites that matter here sit at the bottom of one. Getting the propagation right first is what makes the later site-by-site design an engineering exercise rather than a sequence of hopeful guesses.

Outcome

A coverage and backhaul picture the later site work could be designed against rather than guessed at.
