Lead Desktop Technician, Server Engineer, SQL DBA

The Prudential Insurance Company — Server engineering, SQL database administration and lead desktop support — including two years on a scanning, imaging and workflow program.

Dates provisional. Recalled rather than sourced — to be confirmed against the record.

Two roles in sequence. Desktop Support Specialist from March 1997, team leader for the Imeson Park remote site, building an asset management system and planning equipment moves across sites. Then LAN Administrator from June 1997: NT 3.51 and 4.0 server estates, drive arrays for production, extensive SQL 6.5 support, and specialized support for a two-year scanning, imaging and workflow program as one of three on the imaging team.

One of three engineers on the imaging team, across NT 3.51 and 4.0, Windows 95 and 3.x, OS/2 and Novell. Also built the asset management system and planned the equipment moves between sites.

The imaging work here led directly to the InfoImage training in Chicago and then to StorComm.

Dates provisional. The master CV records 1996 to September 1997; contemporaneous resumes record March 1997 to November 1997. Needs confirming.

Technology fingerprint

The same instrument as the technology map, run over this post alone — the 2 disciplines it touched, across the 2 years it covered, weighted the same way. Too short to draw as a landscape, so time is collapsed and the disciplines are ranked.

2 disciplines across 2 years. This post is too short to draw as a landscape — there is not enough time on the horizontal axis for an oblique view to have any depth — so the same measurement is shown with time collapsed. Each bar is the work running in that domain, weighted by what failure would have cost and summed over the years of the post — life-safety ×3, a statutory obligation ×2.2, the estate itself ×1.5, an evaluation ×1. Same arithmetic as the surface elsewhere on the site, one axis fewer. Work that ran across an employer boundary counts here as well as on the other era it belonged to.
