Upper Kanawha valley signal in 3D

Terrain, roofs and tree crowns from USGS elevation data and the 2018 LiDAR survey, with the EDX SignalPro result on the ground. The stations are the pump stations and head-end of the Kanawha Falls waste water network. Each site was run alone, so every station and tower has its own switch. The signal sea is the same result drawn as a moving surface.

Coverage: EDX SignalPro 6.1.1, Anderson 2D, 3 m grid, USGS 1/3 arc-second terrain and a LiDAR clutter grid, with clutter loss along the path and at the receiver. Levels were read from EDX's display in ten bands, one run per site. “Shadow screen” is a separate line-of-sight estimate on the 2 m LiDAR surface (knife-edge over terrain and roofs, Weissberger foliage loss). “EDX, original data” is the same project before the terrain and clutter were replaced; it has one layer for all stations and one for all towers, so the switches act on each group there. The signal sea is a drawing of the selected result: its height above the ground and its color both follow the signal level, and the height scale is symbolic. Roofs and tree heights: USGS 3DEP LiDAR, 2018; 184 newer buildings at assumed heights. Tree shapes are symbolic, and far from the stations one crown stands for several trees.
